Both of our children have been active in TEC and it has definitely enriched their lives. Here is some information regarding TEC from the local web site. It is best explained on their site, but I have copied a brief overview here. Also, here is the LINK to the National web site.
Teens Encounter Christ A journey towards peace and happiness...
TEC is a fun-filled, spiritually enriching and exciting weekend that is open to teens of all faiths from high school sophomores through age 19.
A TEC weekend provides an opportunity to truly experience the amazing love that Christ has for all of us. At TEC, you will learn that, although you may have many struggles in life, you never have to face them alone. You will become part of a community of loving and supportive people who will help you remain true to yourself and grow in your faith life.
A TEC weekend begins on Saturday morning and ends on Monday afternoon. Participants listen to and discuss short talks presented by fellow teens and adults. Participation is based on your own comfort level in a thoughtful, safe and confidential environment.
You won't sit around memorizing prayers and hearing from people who seem to have it all figured out... discussions are open to the reality that most of us have life struggles that lead to doubts and real questions.
You can engage in small group discussion, self-reflection, and social activities throughout the weekend. Free time and plenty of food keeps the energy flowing to the end.
