I have been meaning to do this for awhile, and this morning as I was reading the Bible I came across yet another verse that mentioned something that God desired of us (or finds pleasing in us). Here is a thread that I will try to add to over time, whenever I read a verse that mentions what God finds pleasing. Here goes.
"Behold, you desire true sincerity" (Psalm 51:8 NABRE).
Ultimately, God simply wants us to accept His love, and in faith love Him.

He wants us to trust Him.

God wants us to live a joyful life trusting in Him as we journey each day. He is with us in our trials to help us have that inner-peace. He is also with us when we have mountaintop experiences of joy. Molly and I recently climbed to the summit of Hawksbill Mountain, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It felt so exhilarating when we reached the top. Pure joy. Obviously we don't have that feeling when we are going through the sorrows of life. But I do believe we can have an inner peace if we just surrender all to the Lord and trust that He will see us through the storms of life that are painful. In a sense, that too is a type of joyful peace. We can walk with Jesus by our side and never be alone in our suffering. He is the One who suffered horribly and died on the cross to save us. He won't abandon us in our trials. And we can be confident that He will bring us home to be with Him in Heaven. How cool is that? Something to rejoice in for sure...

The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves one who pursues justice"

A person gains honor by avoiding strife, while every fool starts a quarrel.
One can put on gold and abundant jewels, but wise lips are the most precious ornament.
A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much. Proverbs 20:3, 15, 19
All your ways may be straight in your own eyes, but it is the Lord who weighs hearts. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. Proverbs 21:2-3
Those who guard mouth and tongue guard themselves from trouble. Proud, boastful—scoffer is the name: those who act with overbearing pride. The desire of sluggards will slay them, for their hands refuse to work. Some are consumed with avarice all the day, but the just give unsparingly. Proverbs 21:23-26
Whoever pursues justice and kindness will find life and honor. Proverbs 21:21

Molly and I like to hike, especially mountain hikes to the summit. This morning I was thinking about how life is like a mountain hike. It is good, but sometimes hard. The destination though is worth the journey. In life our journey is to the summit - Heaven - to live forever with the Lord in a perfect place that has no evil, sin or evil people. Our map & compass on the journey is the Word of God which helps us stay on the right trail/path on our way to be with him at our heavenly destination, our true home. If we find ourselves off of the path in life, we can use God's Word, to find our way back to the right path and journey on. We are blessed on our journey in life to also have a guide who knows the way. We walk with the Lord as our guide. He is always with us. In fact we know the Holy Spirit lives in us, if we belong to the Lord. We can walk and talk with the Lord in prayer throughout our day as we journey on. This too helps us stay on the right path. Lord we praise you for your Word and your presence. Thank you Lord.

I was reading from the book of Isaiah this morning. God's people, His chosen people, Israel, had turned away from trusting in Him. They were not even asking Him for guidance anymore. They began to trust in people and nations to protect them - trusting in people rather than Almighty God. They ended up losing their nation and going into captivity. God would have offered them protection if only they had turned to Him. Instead they turned away from Him. God wants us to include Him in our daily lives as we walk with Him in trust and faith. Trust in God, not mortal man. Right now our nation faces God-sized problems that no politician is capable of solving. We need to turn back to the Lord, and trust in Him for wisdom, protection and guidance. God wants us to trust in Him. In God we trust.

This passage in the Book of Romans, pretty much nails it, I think. This is how we are to live in a manner that is pleasing to Almighty God.

Here are some interesting passages from Isaiah that tell us a bit about what God wants of us. "For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; such nations shall be utterly destroyed!"Isaiah 60:12Isaiah 60:19-22 "For I, the Lord, love justice"Isaiah 61:8 I thought this part may refer to what it will be like after Jesus returns and there is justice and judgment. The evil and evil people will be removed. In Revelation it tells us that there will be a new heaven and a new earth. We will be restored to our resurrected healthy, restored and perfect bodies and live eternally with the Lord. No more sickness. No more dying. No more will we live in a sin-fallen world exposed to the evil that prevails here now. Joy and peace will be with us always. We will be with those who passed on before us, or who join us after we die - who died as believers, belonging to Jesus Christ. If you are unsure of your salvation, please take a few minutes to review this LINK regarding assurances of your salvation. Here is the Isaiah passage that I was reading this morning: Eternal Light for Zion "No longer shall the sun be your light by day, Nor shall the brightness of the moon give you light by night; Rather, the Lord will be your light forever, your God will be your glory. No longer will your sun set, or your moon wane; For the Lord will be your light forever, and the days of your grieving will be over. Your people will all be just; for all time they will possess the land; They are the shoot that I planted, the work of my hands, that I might be glorified. The least one shall become a clan, the smallest, a mighty nation; I, the Lord, will swiftly accomplish these things when the time comes."Isaiah 60:19-22

From reading the Bible it sure is clear that the Lord wants us to be humble, not prideful.
"This is the one whom I approve: the afflicted one, crushed in spirit, who trembles at my word." Isaiah 66:2

I read this today about watching what we say. I know that I must be careful to say hurtful things to others, and really, I shouldn't be thinking bad thoughts of others. I should be praying for them and being patient and kind to them. This is pleasing to God who commands us to love others (Mt. 22:37-40).
Set a guard, Lord, before my mouth, keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not let my heart incline to evil, to perform deeds in wickedness. On the delicacies of evildoers let me not feast. Psalm 141:3-4

When I read this today it reminded me that I need to do my best at work and at home, and do everything as if I am working for the Lord. Because I am.

Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
